Phase Structure
Classes
The Family School provides education for pupils in Key Stage 1 - Key Stage 3; or Year 1 to Year 9.
Classes usually have 6-8 pupils in. Each is supported by a Class Teacher and 2-3 Teaching Assistants. We also have an Art Teacher and a PE Teacher.
Our classes are organised into phases and positioned over three different floors. Floor 2 has KS2 students, Floor 3 has KS3 and Floor 4 has KS1 and KS3.
The phases are mixed year groups and ages according to needs, presentation of behaviours and academic stage and ability. Upon starting at PFS we will work with you and your child to ascertain the most appropriate class for them.
On occasion during the year, we may need to make changes to classes according to need and pupils joining or leaving the school. We will always talk to you as the parent/carer, and your child about this, to prepare you, hear your views and help you to understand our thinking about this.
The classes are as follows:
- Penguins (Phase 1) has our youngest children in it: Years 1-3
- Dolphins (Phase 2) has children in Years 3-5 in it
- Sharks (Phase 3) has children in Years 5-6 in it
- 3F (Phase 4) has children in Years 6-8
- 3S (Phase 5) has children in Years 7-9
